Q – How can I cut down on the number of cups and glasses I have to wash each day?
A – This is a good question. Even if you don’t have a family, you may have roommates who insist on using a ton of cups (since they can’t remember which one is theirs), but balk at washing them.
There are several ways you can do this. One, you can buy each person a different color of cup to use. Then instead of spending so much energy washing cups, you can spend it breaking up arguments about who used someone else’s cup. Two, you can buy a kitchen faucet with a sprayer and spray water directly into each child’s mouth, bypassing the cups altogether.
The third option is the one I use and recommend. I took ponytail holders of different colors and assigned each kid a color. Then I bought a small cup hook and hung it near the kitchen sink and hung them on it. (The ponytail holders, not the kids!) Now they can get whatever cup is convenient for them in the morning, “tag” it by putting the right color holder on it, and use it all day. They don’t always do this, it’s true, but it helps. And I, for one, can use all the help I can get!
